SCRIPT® Training Workshop:
Tobacco Cessation for Pregnant Women

Healthcare professionals and community organizations that work with pregnant women are invited to participate in a FREE four-hour workshop. The workshop is designed to train healthcare professionals and community organizations that work with pregnant women to help them stop using tobacco by implementing a program called SCRIPT® – Smoking Cessation and Reduction in Pregnancy Treatment Program, an award-winning, evidence-based program shown to be effective in helping thousands of pregnant women quit smoking.

Participants in the SCRIPT® Training Workshop, will walk away knowing how to:
• Identify the dangers of smoking
• Discover the rates and trends of tobacco use
• Discuss the purpose of SCRIPT
• Examine the evidence base of SCRIPT
• Explain ways to screen for tobacco use
• Identify the components of SCRIPT Program
• Demonstrate a SCRIPT intervention session

Participants will receive: a Pregnant Women’s Guide to Quit Smoking and comprehensive training guide and a starter-pack of materials.

Training provided by the Kentucky Cancer Program. Cancer Control Specialists, Jamie Smith and Pam Temple-Jennings will provide the training. Training and materials are made possible by funding through the Kentucky Department of Public Health’s Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program. Speakers have no financial relationship disclosures. Training is pending approval the Kentucky Board of Nursing for 4.0 contact hour of continuing education credit for registered nurses.
